Join the Holy Rosary Adult Softball team!

• Co-ed, just for fun team - We play other parishes in our area.
• There are 8 league games starting June 10th, 1 game per week, on either Monday or Thursday, played in Burien, Mercer Island or Shoreline (most games are at St. Bernadette)
• A very fun one day tournament on August 17th at Moshier Park in Burien.
• Only $35
• We only have two women signed up so far - help us get a team in!

REMAINING THE SAME FROM LAST YEAR: The fee is $60. If you would like to reuse your 2012 black and blue striped Holy Rosary jersey, you will receive a $15 discount off the registration cost. Any late registrations after this open registration period will be accepted on a space availability basis.

The CYO organization at Holy Rosary offers the amazing opportunity for all K - 8th graders in the parish to:

• Build school spirit by participating in organized sports with classmates and peers.
• Represent our school and parish in friendly competition with other Seattle area parishes.
• Develop new friendships while having fun and working towards a shared goal.
• Become involved with CYO Sports and the Holy Rosary community (esp. for new Kindergarten families)

For those already playing organized soccer in the Fall, CYO can be:

• A low pressure environment to refine skills or learn a new position in game-type settings.
• An opportunity to play with friends that are otherwise on different teams/leagues.

Last year, we had over 155 players and 20 volunteer coaches participate. Let’s make 2013 an even bigger year for participation.

COACHES NEEDED - Please consider offering your skills, experience, and leadership in service to coaching one of our teams. Not only are community service hours are available, but volunteering provides great connection with the Holy Rosary families/larger community. If you are interested, please contact Russell Nishimoto.

Now is the perfect opportunity to sign up for next year’s lunch recess duty. The time is 11:15 am - 1:15 pm daily. Double volunteer hours are given for this enjoyable task. This includes Parties (Bingo, Dance, 3rd grade Mexican Party), Silent & LIVE Auction items, dinner & raffle tickets as well as direct donations (Find-an-Item, Dessert Auction and Holy Family donations).

In order to do that, we need parents to fill the three vacant positions we have for the 2013-14 school year! If you know of anyone who loves to have fun and meet lots of great people, please encourage him/her to apply for Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer!! Or better yet, consider stepping into a role yourself!

May is Bike to School Month, designed to encourage bicycle commuting, mentor new riders and foster a love of bicycling. When you bike to school with your child you:

• Help your child become a safe, knowledgeable and independent cyclist.
• Create daily exercise habits that help keep your child active and healthy.
• Reduce car traffic and air pollution.

We envision participation in Bike-to-School Month as a family project, one that may also introduce parents to the fun of cycling with their kids! Everyone who rides at least once wins a prize!

So, how do you participate? It’s easy! Look for a Bike to School sign up flyer and passport calendar in the school office before May 1st, or download the attachment from the Efc. Please return it to the school office by June 3 at the latest in order to receive your prizes. If you have questions, contact Tauna Evans. For more information check out Cascade’s website.

The Holy Rosary Children’s Choir is a ‘parish’ choir, open to all parish children, whether they go to Holy Rosary or any of our local schools. Accommodations can be made for schools with late afternoon dismissals.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our Second Grade students to see what it’s like to sing in the Children’s Choir—for free! Our goal is to have lots of boys and girls excited to sing for their Moms. And if we get enough boys to sing, they can have their own special part to sing! Is your singer shy? Come with a friend!

The choir sings for Christmas and Easter and many other special masses. Children learn how to sing well, how to sing together, how to cantor or solo, and how to sing harmony! Most importantly, they also learn how to be music ministers, whose role is to lead and support the singing of the assembly!

Practices are on Tuesdays, April 23, 30 and May 7, after school from 3:15-4pm in the CHAPEL. Holy Rosary BASE kids are escorted back to BASE as needed.
