For those of you with questions about the future placement of your student, please read the pdfs below for the guidelines we use in placing students.
It is important to note that ALL students in EVERY grade are evaluated on an annual basis.
In seventh and eighth grades, those students who are not sorted into Mrs. Kirmeyer’s seventh grade math class or Mr. Ritscher’s eighth grade math class are then split evenly into the other two classes (Mr. Secrest and Ms. Johnson for seventh, and Ms. Johnson and Mrs. Kirmeyer for eighth) without reference to any qualifiers.
In EIGHTH grade, both texts are high school level. Every year the various high schools applaud us on the immense preparation we give students for their entrance and placement exams.
If AFTER reading all of the material provided in this post, you still have questions about placement, please contact Mrs. Kirmeyer. She will not tell you where your student will be, but by the second week of school she, Kris Brown, and other teachers will ensure that your student is placed in an appropriate math class.
Thank you.
*The pdfs below are based on last year’s students - the specific percentiles can change from year to year.

Welcome to the 2007 - 2008 school year!
This is the webpage for Mrs. Kirmeyer’s math class. Please contact me via email at jkirmeyer@holyrosaryws.org or call 937-1488 ext. 214 with any questions or concerns.
I will post homework assignments weekly. I wrote two posts last year that I really would like everyone to read - it neatly summarizes some general policies.
There is also a post with a scan of a thirty square sheet. Please feel free to make your own in excel or similar program. Or just use notebook paper:)
Availability: I am available to help ANY students in the morning from 7:45 to 8:15. Please just drop in with any questions. I will leave a sticky note on my door if I am elsewhere…
I am also available during study hall times!
I am anticipating an excellent year! Thank you for your support!

Thank you for all supporting our Powerschool program. It is a very powerful tool for students and families to ensure sucess in school.
Just a couple of reminders:
1) While some teachers may update every day, as a GENERAL RULE teachers will update EVERY TWO WEEKS
2) Here are some of my codes - 0 means the student did not turn in the assignment, E means that they are excused from the assignment (it does not count against them), G and ( ) means I am grading the assignment.
3) If a grade is highlighted blue, then you can click on it and see my comments about the assignment. It could be comments about when the assignment was due or any other special thing that may important about that grade
There are also a minor bugs in the grade scale from my program on my computer to the internet based program. Occasionally, a score will read incorrectly. However, this incorrect letter grades does NOT effect the points grade of the student. So even if it says a 19/20 is an F, be assured that the grade calculated does not reflect that F but the 19 points out of the 20. I have recently updated my program on my computer, so hopefully there will be no further problems.
If you do notice an error, please let me know as soon as possible via email. Thank you all again for your support!

Here is a pdf of the thirty square sheets students may use on homework assignments. It is a helpful sheet for organizing work. Please feel free to download and make copies for your students (if you are a student, download and make copies for yourself!). Thanks!

…which can happen during the school year, he or she needs to make up a missed lesson in a prompt manner. It can be difficult to be sick and come back to 60 math problems, but it must be done. Please check the webpage if your child is absent so that you know exactly what lessons he or she needs to complete. I do not ask that students have the assignment when they come back, but within two days I should have the work.
It is imperative that students make corrections to assignments with seven or more incorrect answers. Students receive the homework for corrections at the beginning of the in class work period and need to complete those corrections by the end of class or turn them in at the beginning of the next class. Students SHOULD complete corrections on loose-leaf paper.
Thanks!
