Volunteer
The following are some Magazine Drive jobs where volunteers are needed; especially leadership roles. If interested please contact Jody or call her for more information.
Decorations
4 or 5 individuals to assist in decorating the hallways are needed the week of August 27 (3 or 4 hours) 2 or 3 individuals mostly Monday-Tuesdays during the Drive to 1) update visual displays on the main hallway 2) post and take down signs for turn in days and other related events 3) decorate outside entrances on turn in days (early morning hours), and 4) assist in coming up with props for the student rallies. Also a crafty, happy, idea filled Decorations Leader is needed for future Drive's to be in charge of developing the display and coordinating all decoration related items- get involved now if interested.
Order Processors
Plan on coming to the Convent Tuesday mornings 8:30-10:30 to tally money and sales. The more the merrier on this one! A great way to see old friends and meet some new! We generally welcome 12-24 people!
Prizes
IMPORTANT- a Prize Leader is needed NOW to be in charge of the prize program which includes all aspects of the prize program including distribution and trouble shooting problems which may last several weeks after the Drive. Mary Ballanger can help this year to get a new coordinator up to speed. Several volunteers needed the week of October 3, to sort and deliver prizes.
Parish sales (Sunday work)
3 or 4 volunteers are needed to set up tables and supervise students after mass magazine sales. It's helpful if you could commit to one or more mass times for each of the 4 or 5 weeks during September and October. Sharlene McCambridge is the coordinator for this effort. Please contact her if you can help.
Adult Supervision for Community Sales (after school work)
Several adults needed after school for several days during the drive to transport or walk with a small group of students to local businesses for sales. The students would drop off flyers to businesses with a catalog and return to the business at a later date for pick up. This is a great selling and learning opportunity for our students.
Family Fun Center Coordinator
Coordinate all aspects of this event which is about 140 students and parent chaperones on the 3 hour Family Fun Center event. This involves coordinating 3 buses, working with Fun Center, getting permission slips, assigning chaperones to students, and making sure everyone gets to the Fun Center and back to school again. At home work necessary and then just a one day event. Follow Jody this year for training! A bonus if you can work with Excel.
Admiral Theater Helpers
This is new this year if we make the goal. Stand by for more information in the FCE.
Interested in CHAIRING? BE THE NEW MAGAZINE LADY (OR MAN)
In addition to making sure the above gets completed this person would needs to coordinate all communications (prize sheets, website updates, FCE, Parish announcements, staff communications); works with Principal on theme promotion; makes weekly school announcements; coordinates the opening and closing student rallies (come up with games, skits, music to motivate); summarizes all finances (excel); tests website of online sales; work with prize coordinator to ensure prize program within budget; and troubleshoots as necessary. It is a huge job but very rewarding! I will work with you for the next few years for ultimate transition or keep a portion of the job behind the scenes.
